COMMON FOOT COMPLAINTS

Ingrown Toe nails

Known as onychocryptosis, this is a  painful condition that usually occurs to one or both sides of the big toe-nail. The skin surrounding the nail plate can grow over the nail or the nail plate can grow into the side of the skin.

An ingrowing toe-nail will often present as being red and inflammed, very painful when knocked, swollen and may have fluid or exudate around the offending nail.

Treatment for the nail involves visiting a Chiropodist to remove the offending nail spike and cleaning the area up. Once this has been completed, immediate relief of the area is usually achieved.
